is currently located in the Cedar/Taylor Business District, after over 35 years of serving the community with healthy hair care from a clinical approach in the greater area of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Lenora regularly consults with and refers clients to dermatologists at Cosmopolitan Dermatology & Dr. Faith Durden to further enhance the clinical approach to healthy hair.
Lenora’s salon is a “teaching salon with a clinical approach” and the relocating was important to accommodate its multicultural client base and to expand it’s availablity to other communities. Multi-cultural beauty environments are the newest trend in hair salons and may we say, “It’s about time”. As far as America has come on issues of race relations, the fact that so many salons are still either “white” or ‘black’ is a sad commentary. Lenora’s staff is racially mixed so any man or woman of any culture who walks in can feel comfortable and know they’ll be successfully serviced.
The team attends advanced training classes regularly which enable them to service the client base with the latest approaches in establishing and maintaining all phases of healthy hair. There is an aggressive apprentice training program, which enables the team to practice the healthy hair approaches as a united front.
At no additional cost, the clinical approach provides clients with prescriptive conditioning and a consultation every time they enter the salon. Clients who have medical conditions and may need hair additions receive specialty hair and scalp treatments as well as special hair prosthetics. In fact, Lenora has worked at Cleveland Heights High School and Miami Jacobs College as an instructor of Cosmetology. She was also the Dean of Cosmetology at Remington College when she managed the college’s cosmetology program for five plus years. She is also currently a English & Religion teacher for the Cleveland Catholic Diocese and a student in Seminary College. Lenora is not only a business owner but she is also an educator.
Lenora has her B.A. in Education and a minor in Psychology (Notre Dame College) M.B.A. (Indiana Weslyan) and Jeremy has his B.A. (Cleveland State University, Interpersonal Communications/Art History). The front desk coordinator, Melissa Marshall recently graduated from Cleveland State University with a B.A. in Health Sciences and now working for Hiram College of Nursing. Natasha Crawford is not only the first lady of King of Glory Ministry but she is a First Lady and a graduated of Remington College. Lenora , Natasha and many of Lenora’s family members work to support the salon and its mission/journey of establishing and maintaining healthy hair by consistently attending training. This continuum of education makes it easy for the team to provide the unique clinical approach in serving its client base.
Lenora’s Healthy Hair Clinic is also a more serene and spiritual environment than many salons. Most of the staff attends either synagogue or church regularly and this grounding in conjunction with the aforementioned education make this spa a noticeably peaceful environment.
In the recent past, Lenora’s salon was recognized by Essence Magazine as one of the top 100 salons in the United States, Canada, Caribbean and Great Britain.
